Updated MacBook Pro Will Likely Launch in November, but Apple Will Likely Not Hold a Dedicated Event for These Models
Notable Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman surprised subscribers with an early ‘Power On’ newsletter, believing that the new MacBook Pro models armed with the M2 Pro and M2 Max chips could possibly launch in November. Since both the upcoming M2 iPad Pro and MacBook Pro models will not feature anything groundbreaking, it is unlikely that Apple will host a dedicated event for both product families. Instead, the company is expected to push forward with press releases, providing additional details in those articles. What this can mean is that the M2 Pro and M2 Max featured inside the new MacBook Pro models will not be mass produced on TSMC’s 3nm architecture, and may be fabricated under the same 5nm process that was used for the M2. Assuming the aforementioned information is accurate, we should still expect the 16-inch and 14-inch MacBook Pro models to deliver a sizable performance boost, with the top-end M2 Max rumored to feature a configuration of up to a 12-core CPU and 38-core GPU. The M1 Max maxes out with a 10-core CPU and 32-core GPU. The ports present on the current models will likely be retained, along with the same keyboard and physical function keys, which would explain why Apple is not reported to host an entire event for this launch.
